The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi—the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society has announced the recipients of its 2025 Fellowships. Totaling over The fellowships, totaling $500,000, were awarded to 48 of the nation’s top scholars at institutions with an active chapter of Phi Kappa Phi including Tommie Worrall from Salem Sate University. 

“Each year, our Fellowship recipients exemplify the academic excellence and leadership that define Phi Kappa Phi,” said Society Executive Director and CEO, Dr. Bradley R. Newcomer. “These scholars inspire us with their potential to make a meaningful impact in their fields and communities, and we are proud to invest in their continued success.”

After a competitive national review, 91��ý alum Tommie Worrall (Class of 24, BA in History and Spanish) was one of the scholars awarded a fellowship to pursue their graduate studies.  "I have, since as far back as I am able to remember, always loved to learn. There is something deeply and axiomatically human about the pursuit of knowledge and the ever-burning desire to simply know, not as a means to an end, but as an end in and of itself."

As the 91��ý nominee for a fellowship, Worrall also received a scholarship from the university's chapter to continue his graduate studies.  Chapter President Kristine Doll, Ph.D. (World Languages and Cultures) stated, "In all of his work, Tommie has consistently promoted the ideals of academic excellence and the highest standards of academic achievement, intellectual honesty, and personal integrity...he is truly inspirational."  

Worrall intends to attend graduate school with the ultimate goal of acquiring a doctoral degree in the field of Latin American history and teaching at the university level.
